Once in a great while , one craves a burger.. This doesn’t mean that one should go through the drive thru to satisfy a need for it! A clean burger or slider should be made at home with real ingredients ! The recipe below can be made small like a slider or bigger for a burger, just don’t make too big!
2 tsp olive oil
1 large onion
1 lb lean ground beef ( no hormone, grass fed is the best)
5 tbsp reduced soy sauce or tamari
3 tbsp parsley
dash of sea salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder
12 whole wheat extra-small buns or 4-6 100% whole wheat buns
your favorite low fat cheese
thinly sliced roma or heirloom tomatoes
Heat oil in large pan on med high. Add onion, stirring about every 5 minutes for about 30 min til golden brown. If onion sticks add a couple of tbsp of water to pan. Remove from heat and let cool completely.
Second,In a large bowl, mix meat, parsley, soy sauce and all other spices. Shape into about 12 small patties for sliders or 4-6 bigger patties for burgers.
Third, Heat a large non stick pan on med high and lightly spray with olive oil spray. May have to cook half at a time depending on size of pan. cook til golden brown and done in middle..
Four, place buns cut side up and place your cheese on top. Put on top rack and broil til cheese is melted.
Five, Layer the way that you desire and enjoy!
