This is very close to tasting like a cinnamon roll, but a lot better for you! I plan on serving it on Christmas Morning..
1/2 cup warm milk
1/2 cup warm water
1 package yeast
1/2 cup sugar(Natural)
2 tbsp natural sugar
6 tbsp softened unsalted butter, divided
1 c whole wheat flour
2 cups unbleached all-purpose or whole white wh
1.5 Tbsp cinnamon, divided
1 1/4 tsp sea salt
1 egg plus 2 tbsp water
Combine your milk,water, yeast and 2 tbsp sugar in a small bowl. Let sit til foamy, about 10 minutes.
While the yeast is resting, combine the flours,sugar,3 tbsp unsalted butter, sea salt and 1 tbsp cinnamon in a large bowl.Mix well. Add water mix to flour , mix well. knead on lightly floured surface til smooth.about 7-8 minutes.
Spray a large bowl with cooking spray and put dough in it. Cover with a cloth and let rise in a warm place for 1 1/2 hours.
While the dough is rising, mix together the 3 tbsp butter,1.5 tsp cinnamon and 1-2 tbsp natural sugar. After the dough has risen, roll out with a rolling pin on a floured surface to a long rectangle. Coat the top with the butter cinnamon mixture. Roll up tightly.
Place dough in greased loaf pan and cover with cloth. Let rise about an hour.Whisk the egg and water together and brush over the top of loaf.
Bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes.
